A Note from the Peach Patch

After having just returned from your fabulous Star Singles Hanukah Party December 1st at Club Boca, my heart just “quelled” at the sight of 435 single Jewish Gals and Guys. Upon looking at the crowd of “all Jewish people”, it seemed so easy to walk into that crowd and find the right person. But, alas, as a sophisticated society that we are today, the quest is not so simple.

Gone in the United States today, is the matchmaking process that our parents would make for us and make us. So it falls into our hands as singles and I often wonder how adept we really are when looking for a match for ourselves. We all have our ever-present “Check List”, and if that person does not measure up, he or she is out, in what period of time do we all make this judgment?

Do we really give the other person a chance or is it he does not have the right accurements, he’s is off the list. I tell my Atlanta Star Singles Committee Members to strip away all the accurements and view the soul, the character, the integrity and the goodness of the person.

Single people have been victimized, burned and emotionally battered by their many relationships or by their lack of relationships. Alot of Singles are not willing to “Open Up” and take a “Chance” anymore in fear of being rejected. In life without risk, there is no life! As a single person, let’s open up our hearts, our minds, and our souls and be compassionate toward our fellow Single person. Let’s listen to what they have to say and no judge so quickly. Let’s all live by the Golden Rule· “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. If we
as singles could only do just this, and live in a compassionate manner, how much better the quality of our single lives would be!
